Structural Design Engineer

Work Environment

BASE Design is a small, design-driven structural engineering practice working on new building and building component design and retrofit projects throughout California. Engineers work closely with senior staff and principals across all phases of project delivery, from early design concepts through construction.

Projects span a range of building types and jurisdictions, including work subject to review by agencies such as DSA and HCAI. Team members are engaged early in the design process and contribute meaningfully to technical development and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Structural analysis, design, and detailing of wood, steel, concrete, and masonry systems

  • Preparation of structural calculations and construction documents within a BIM environment

  • Coordination with architects and other engineering disciplines

  • Support during design development and construction as needed, including visiting job sites to observe work built per our drawings

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of experience in structural engineering

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)

  • EIT certification or progress toward licensure

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Internship or prior consulting experience is a plus

Compensation

Salary Range: $75,000–$95,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
Performance-based bonus eligibility.
